Carrie Marill was born in San Francisco, California, in 1976. As an artist, she draws inspiration from a vast array of sources, from folk art quilts and Persian miniatures to propaganda posters and industrial design. Marill is inspired by the tension between ornament and object, the intellectual and the aesthetic. She approaches each work with a disciplined philosophy of color and form to engage her audience on multiple levels of beauty, concept, and an invitation to immerse themselves in art, amidst the hustle and bustle of the contemporary world.

In addition to exhibiting her work in galleries and international institutions, Marill‘s practice includes the development of large-scale outdoor murals for public and private clients.

Marill graduated from San Francisco State University in 2002 with a Bachelor‘s degree in Painting and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Cornell University in 2004. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, in California, New York, Seattle, Miami, Dallas, and Arizona. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Wired Magazine, Southwest Art, The New Times, The Wall Street Journal, Modern Painters, LA Weekly, and LA Times. Her work is part of the collections of Todd Oldham, Missoni, Disney, Tiffany‘s, The Hallmark Collection, and many other passionate collectors.
